Controls

Family Time is a first-person game played with keyboard and mouse. The left mouse button uses whatever tool is in your hand, the toolbar at the bottom of the screen switches tools and blueprints, and two keys, F and E, handle most commands to the wolf pups.

Keyboard and Mouse

  • Left mouse button use the current tool: chop trees and split logs with the axe, lower or flatten ground with the shovel
  • Right mouse button raise ground with the shovel
  • Mouse wheel scroll through the item bar to pick tools and blueprints
  • F call pups to follow you
  • E order pups to carry logs and planks or work on a blueprint
  • F5 save the game
  • F6 load the last save

Tools on the Item Bar

The axe cuts trees into three or four logs and splits logs into planks. The mallet picks up materials and works on blueprints, one plank or log per piece. The shovel reshapes terrain, which is essential for flat building spots.

Blueprints sit on the same bar. Scroll to a structure and place it as a blue preview, then bring materials to make it real. The full cost list is on the building and shelter page.

Interacting With Pups and Animals

Pups can be picked up and carried, and the Episode 3 build added naming and touching their ears. Animals can be grabbed too: chickens can be carried three at a time, while pigs are grabbed by the tail and steered into obstacles to knock them out.

Clicking very rapidly with the shovel has been reported to crash pre-release builds. Dig at a steady pace and save with F5 before large terraforming jobs.

Graphics Options at Launch

The episode builds offer DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 versions, and a Play Tutorial prompt appears on the first start. DX12 is the recommended choice, with DX11 as the fallback for older Windows machines. More on the builds is on the demo and release page, and the commanding pups guide shows the F and E orders in action.
